Terms of Service
Effective September 27, 2026 · Last updated September 27, 2026
The short version
- Partner is budgeting and planning software. It explains your options using your own numbers. It is not financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
- You must be 18 or older and live in the United States to use Partner.
- Paid plans renew every month until you cancel. You can cancel online, in one step, in Account → Plan & billing.
- Bank connections are read-only, through Plaid. Partner can see your accounts. It can’t move your money.
- Most disagreements are settled by individual arbitration, not in court or as a class action, unless you opt out within 30 days (section 16).
This summary is for convenience. The full terms below are what apply.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Partner Limited Liability Company, a Colorado limited liability company (“Partner,” “we,” “us”). They cover the Partner website, the Partner apps, Partner AI and every related service (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Subscription & Cancellation Terms, our Community Guidelines and our Disclosures, which are all part of these Terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use the Service.
2. Who can use Partner
You must be at least 18 years old, live in the United States, and be able to form a binding contract. Each account is for one person. Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. The Service is for personal, household use, not for running a business or managing other people’s money for pay.
3. Your account
Keep your password private and don’t share your account. You’re responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else has access, change your password and tell us right away at support@partnerbudget.app. We may pause an account to protect you or the Service if we see suspicious activity.
4. What Partner is, and what it isn’t
Partner gives you tools to budget, set goals, see where your money goes and build a plan, and it explains the results in plain language. Partner is educational software. Partner is not a bank, broker-dealer, registered investment adviser, insurance agency, accountant, tax preparer or law firm, and it does not give individualized investment, tax or legal advice or recommend buying or selling any security.
Projections, payoff dates, retirement odds and other estimates are based on your information and on assumptions such as historical market returns. They are not predictions or guarantees, and real results will differ. You make your own decisions and are responsible for them. For important decisions, consider talking with a qualified professional. If you use our Find a pro directory, any agreement is between you and that professional. Partner doesn’t take referral fees and doesn’t endorse any listed professional.
5. Partner AI
Partner AI answers questions using your budget, your plan and our planning engine, with help from an artificial-intelligence service. AI can be wrong or incomplete. Check important numbers before you act on them, and don’t rely on Partner AI as your only source of advice. Please don’t type full account numbers, Social Security numbers or passwords into Partner AI or anywhere else in the Service.
6. Connecting your bank and other accounts
When you connect an account, we use Plaid Inc. (“Plaid”) to get read-only information such as balances and transactions. You authorize Partner and Plaid to access that information from your financial institutions on your behalf. Partner cannot move money, make payments or change anything at your bank. Information from institutions can be late, incomplete or wrong, and we aren’t responsible for their errors. You can disconnect an account at any time. Plaid’s handling of your information is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy.
7. Plans, free trials and payment
Partner has a Free plan and two paid plans: Basic ($4.99 per month) and Pro ($9.99 per month), in U.S. dollars, plus any sales tax that applies. What each plan includes is described on our Pricing page. Paid plans may include a free trial for new subscribers. Paid plans renew automatically every month until you cancel. By starting a paid plan or a trial, you authorize us, through our payment processor Stripe, to charge your payment method for the plan price each month, starting when any trial ends, until you cancel. Full details on trials, renewals, cancellation, price changes, failed payments and refunds are in our Subscription & Cancellation Terms. If you buy a subscription through Apple’s App Store, Apple handles billing, cancellation and refunds under Apple’s terms.
8. Canceling
You can cancel any time online in Account → Plan & billing, in one step, or by emailing support@partnerbudget.app. When you cancel, you keep your paid features until the end of the period you’ve paid for, and you won’t be charged again. If you cancel during a free trial, you won’t be charged at all. Deleting your account also cancels your paid plan.
9. Community
Some plans include Community groups. What you post stays yours, but you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display and share it inside the Service so the Community works, including with the members of the groups you post in. Follow our Community Guidelines. Posts from members are their own opinions, not advice from Partner, and we don’t check them for accuracy. We may remove content or limit accounts that break the rules.
10. Acceptable use
Don’t use the Service to break the law or to harm anyone. Don’t access accounts or information that aren’t yours, including connecting someone else’s bank account without their permission. Don’t scrape, copy or resell the Service, try to reverse engineer it (except where the law allows), probe or break its security, overload it, create accounts with bots, or pretend to be someone else.
11. Our content and your feedback
The Service, including our software, design, text, graphics and the Partner name and logo, belongs to Partner and its licensors and is protected by law. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own household under these Terms. If you send us ideas or feedback, we may use them without any obligation to you.
12. Other companies’ services
The Service relies on other companies, including Stripe for payments, Plaid for account connections, and providers for hosting, email and AI. Their terms may also apply to you. We aren’t responsible for other companies’ services, websites or content, even if we link to them.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don’t promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or that it will produce any particular financial result.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Partner and its members, managers, employees and agents won’t be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, savings, data or goodwill, arising from or related to the Service or these Terms. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $100. Some states don’t allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
15. Indemnity
To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and hold harmless Partner from claims, losses and costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) that come from your misuse of the Service, your content, or your breaking these Terms or the law.
16. Resolving disputes: arbitration and class-action waiver
Please read this section carefully. It affects your rights.
Talk to us first. Before filing a claim, email support@partnerbudget.app with a description of the problem and what you’d like us to do. We’ll try to work it out within 60 days.
Arbitration. If we can’t resolve it, you and Partner agree that any dispute arising from or relating to the Service or these Terms will be resolved by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may ask a court to stop infringement of intellectual property. The arbitrator decides all issues except whether this section is enforceable, which a court decides. Arbitration can happen by video or phone, or in the county where you live. We’ll pay filing and arbitrator fees above what you would pay to file in court, unless the arbitrator finds your claim frivolous.
No class actions. You and Partner may bring claims only individually, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective or representative proceeding, and the arbitrator can’t combine claims of different people. You and Partner each waive the right to a jury trial.
You can opt out. You can opt out of this arbitration agreement by emailing support@partnerbudget.app with your name, the email on your account and a clear statement that you opt out, within 30 days after you first agree to these Terms. Opting out won’t affect anything else in these Terms.
If any part of this section is found unenforceable, that part is removed and the rest still applies, except that if the class-action waiver is found unenforceable for a claim, that claim goes to court, not arbitration.
17. Governing law
Colorado law governs these Terms, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where federal law (including the Federal Arbitration Act) applies. For any claim not subject to arbitration, you and Partner agree to the state and federal courts located in El Paso County, Colorado, unless the law where you live gives you the right to sue in your home state.
18. Suspending or ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if needed to protect you, others or the Service, or if the law requires it. If we end the Service for reasons unrelated to your conduct, we’ll refund any prepaid amount for the time you can’t use. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 11 through 17) survive.
19. Changes to Partner and to these Terms
We may improve, change or stop features. We may update these Terms. If a change is material, we’ll tell you by email or in the Service before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, the updated Terms apply. If you don’t agree, cancel and stop using the Service.
20. Other terms
These Terms are the whole agreement between you and Partner about the Service. If a part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don’t enforce a right, we haven’t waived it. You can’t transfer these Terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, sale or reorganization. You agree to receive notices, receipts and agreements electronically. We aren’t responsible for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control.
